Residency Training Programs

Looking for a residency program that is challenging, dynamic and in the heart of a vibrant city? Maryland General Hospital is the place for you.

Baltimore, Maryland is a dynamic city that has become the model for urban revitalization in the United State. The metropolitan area promotes itself as a location with something for everyone -- whether it´s sailing on the Chesapeake Bay, viewing some of the best 19th century architecture in the country, or just enjoying lunch at one of the Inner Harbor's many restaurants.

Baltimore is the home of the Baltimore Ravens football team and the Baltimore Orioles baseball team. Both teams have fielded champions in recent years and play their home games in one of the finest sports complexes the major leagues have to offer. Baltimore is also just a short drive from the many cultural and recreational activities Washington, D.C has to offer.

Maryland General Hospital is located in the Midtown section of the city. We are neighbors to the city´s Antique Row shopping district, the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, the Maryland Institute College of Art and the Lyric Opera House. As the northern anchor of the city´s West Side Renaissance Program, the hospital is one of the main beneficiaries of a number of private and public investment projects taking place in the neighborhood.

Maryland General is a community teaching hospital with a strong reputation in the community it has served since its founding in 1881. Our programs promote strong clinical experience across departments in a collegial and professional environment.

With residencies in internal medicine and ophthalmology, Maryland General Hospital has the distinct advantage of offering rigorous training in a busy, mid-sized urban hospital, along with the individualized attention of a small yet comprehensive residency program. Our affiliation with the University of Maryland Medical System expands the vast resources available to our residency program.

There are more than 20 busy outpatient clinics at Maryland General, as well as active programs in community outreach and drug rehabilitation. We also offer a thriving physical rehabilitation program through our affiliation with Rehab Center at Maryland General.
