Endocrinology
Endocrinologists diagnose and treat diseases of the endocrine glands and their secretions (hormones). The endocrine glands include the:
- Thyroid gland
- Pituitary gland
- Pancreas
- Ovaries
- Testes
The hormones are secreted into the blood stream and control important functions such as metabolism, growth, appetite, salt levels in the blood, blood sugar levels, blood pressure and kidney function.
