Maryland General Hospital offers free blood pressure screening every month. Take advantage of free community health care - have your blood pressure checked, because high blood pressure may increase your risk of stroke, heart disease and kidney disease.

Free Community Health Screenings

Maryland General Hospital`s Free Health Screenings are a fast and easy way to detect abnormalities or the onset of certain diseases. The following screenings are provided: blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose screening and pregnancy testing.

Free Pregnancy Testing Program

Maryland General Hospital operates a highly successful Pregnancy Testing Program.

The test is free, and if you`re pregnant, our staff is able to assist you in finding the right OB/GYN doctor to meet your needs. We can also provide you with financial information to help you with your pregnancy. From education classes to prenatal care, childbirth and beyond, Maryland General is an excellent healthcare resource for you and your baby.

Tests are performed at our Community Health Education Center on our main campus, at our W. Mt. Royal Avenue primary care location, and at local health fairs.

Free Vascular Screening

Varicose vein disease is one of th emost common, troubling and neglected conditions of mankind. As an important and needed community health service, Dr. Michael Lilly and his staff conduct free vascular screening within the community. The screenings includes an interesting and informative talk by the doctor.

The Joslin Diabetes Center Education Program

Learning about your diabetes is the first step in managing it. The Joslin Diabetes Center Education Program offers individual counseling and group education to persons with diabetes on:
- Making healthier food choices
- Individual meal planning
- Knowing how your medications work
- Understanding your blood glucose (blood sugar) numbers
- Learning about proper foot, dental and eye care
- Managing sick days with diabetes
