Maryland General has a long history of offering high quality medical and surgical care for eye problems. Ophthalmology services are provided at both The Friedenwald Eye Institute at Maryland General Hospital and our Linden Medical Group offices.
We provide quality care in examination rooms that are fully equipped with the latest in diagnostic services and equipment including:

- Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
- Heidelberg Retinal Tomography (HRT)
- Humphrey and Goldman Visual Field Testing
We offer the complete range of eye care services, including:
- Eye examination, evaluation and prescribing of eye glasses
- Screening and treatment for eye diseases including cataracts, glaucoma, diabetes-related eye problems
- Evaluation of patients with visual loss
- Cataract diagnosis and surgery
- Multifocal and Toric lens implants to improve vision after cataract surgery
- Contact lens prescriptions
- Glaucoma diagnosis and medication, laser and surgical treatments
- Neuro-Ophthalmology to evaluate and treat double vision or diminished vision caused by strokes, tumors, MS, thyroid disease and other conditions
- Ocular plastic surgery, including cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids, tear drainage system and eye socket
- Pediatric ophthalmology and diagnosis and treatment for children with amblyopia (lazy eye, squint) and children and adults with strabismus (crossed eyes)
- Retina services, including diabetic retina examination and treatment; diagnosis and treatment of macular degeneration; treatment for retinal detachments
