The Maryland General community has a rich history and bright future. We have been a member of the University of Maryland Medical System since 1999, which has provided our community access to the outstanding resources of a large, nationally recognized medical system. That connection has allowed us to upgrade and build facilities including a brand new seven room OR, a new PACU, GI Suite, Vascular Lab, Wound Care center, and more. Planned expansion of the Emergency Department and a new Ambulatory Center is also on the horizon.
Part of our commitment is to educate our community. Our Community Health Education Center provides health and wellness information to an at-risk population and offers free or low-cost screenings for a range of diseases that can lead to serious health problems.
Since our founding in 1881 we have also been a teaching hospital. Our Student Nurse Internship Program (SNIP) and our Residency program provide the opportunity for hands-on learning for the next generation of health care providers. Maryland General employees have the chance to take part in this process and teach students and residents to help make our community stronger.
