The Residency Program at Maryland General Hospital
The goal of the residency program at Maryland General is to train leaders in Internal Medicine. The program provides a wealth of experience and opportunity and gives medical graduates the training needed to pursue their dreams in academic or private practice medicine.
Our Internal Medicine Residency Program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Maryland General Hospital offers a friendly, welcoming, and supportive environment for academic medicine. The combination of a talented, dedicated faculty, a unique blend of ambulatory and inpatient training, and exposure to known generalists and sub-specialists allow residents and housestaff the opportunity to become future leaders.
Baltimore, Maryland is a dynamic city and a model for urban revitalization in the United States. The metropolitan area offers something for everyone -- whether it’s sailing on the Chesapeake Bay, viewing some of the best 19th century architecture in the country, or enjoying lunch at one of the Inner Harbor's many restaurants.
Baltimore is the home of the Baltimore Ravens football team and the Baltimore Orioles baseball team. Both teams have fielded champions in recent years and play their home games in some of the finest sports complexes the major leagues have to offer. Baltimore is also just a short drive from the many cultural and recreational activities Washington, D.C has to offer.
Maryland General Hospital is located in the Baltimore’s Midtown section of the city, minutes from the city’s Antique Row shopping district, Meyerhof Symphony Hall, Maryland Institute College of Art, and Lyric Opera House. As the northern anchor of the city’s West Side Renaissance Program, the hospital is one of the main beneficiaries of a number of private and public investment projects taking place in the neighborhood.
