Salary and Benefits
Salary for 2012 -2013:
PGY 1: $48,201
PGY 2: $50,569
PGY 3: $52,894
On an annual basis, residents are provided with three lab coats embroidered with their name. Replacements may be requested under certain circumstances if the resident experiences damage to the coat. These coats do not need to be returned at the conclusion of the residency.
Residents who apply for parking in one the Maryland General parking garages receive a free parking benefit.
Vacation: Trainees are entitled to two weeks of paid vacation (10 weekdays plus 4 weekend days) per year, without carryover from year to year during the term of this agreement. Vacation with pay is scheduled and subject to the advance written approval of the Program Director.
Sick Leave: The maximum benefit is 10 days per year.
Holidays: Maryland General observes 12 holidays per year
- 7 calendar holidays (New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas)
- 5 personal holidays for full-time employees
- Personal and calendar holidays require the advance written approval of the Program Director and scheduling is contingent upon satisfying patient care and resident duty requirements. Personal Holidays may not be carried over year to year.
